A Look Back at the First Year of Sercante

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of Sercante.

Holy heck, has this been an interesting ride.

If you’re reading this and thinking:

“Wait, what is Sercante?”

Sercante is a boutique consulting firm specializing in helping marketers be successful on the Salesforce platform.  The less corporate-speak version of that is we are a group of Pardot sherpas helping people rock their marketing automation / lead gen, a group that was born as a direct result of starting this blog.

There’s so much we haven’t done. We still don’t have a website (that one kills me). We haven’t written down corporate values or ICPs or any of that. I’m still trying to figure out which way is up with some of the legal/financial/structural parts of the business.

But when I take a step back and look at the things that HAVE been accomplished by Team Sercante, I’m seriously in awe.

The Highlights from Year 1

We’ve brought 6 full-time team members on staff in the last 4 months, in addition to a cadre of amazing contractors. Mike, Allie, Lauren, Kim, Gwynne, and Creuzer — you are all so incredibly talented, and I can’t tell you how honored I am that this is the place you’ve chosen to invest your blood/sweat/tears.

We’ve had the opportunity to serve 61 clients and help them take their Pardot and Salesforce orgs to the next level.

We’ve done some objectively groundbreaking (AND FUN) stuff when it comes to complex Salesforce/Pardot process integration, B2B Marketing Analytics, Connected Campaigns, Campaign Influence, and more.

When I started this business a year ago, I saw a challenge in the marketplace that wasn’t addressed. I underestimated the depth of that, to be honest.  People are hungry to learn more about Pardot and marketing automation — and I’m excited that our team can help fill that gap and change so many businesses for the better.

A Few Thank Yous to People Who Have Inspired Our Trajectory

This may be a lil sappy, but I would be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to say thank you to a few key people who have helped build Sercante into what it is today.

Jill, Alan, and Rob — you signed on with Sercante in the very early days, and your partnership means the world to me.  Your feedback has helped lay the foundation for where we’ve placed our focus and how we’ve built our team.

The Pardot product marketing & dev teams (Nate, Blake, Kevin, Carrie, Nicole, Kylie, and Girl Kyle, to name just a few) have been fantastic cheerleaders and sources of feedback/insight.

Chichi and Lindsey M. — love you ladies, and appreciate you trusting me with so many of your clients.

Dick Natalizio — thank you for being the chairman of my unofficial board of directors, challenging me at key moments, and helping me see blind spots.

And the Pardot community — Sara McNamara, Lara Black, Becka Miller, Stephanie Foerst, Brittany Rhyme, Erin Duncan, Bailey Wilson, Jacqueline Fassett, Stacey Cogswell, Chris Zullo, and too many more people to mention — I’ve loved the opportunity to get to know you all at a deeper level through a shared love of the platform, and you inspire me to continue leveling up!

And finally — my hubby Buck has been amazing and so supportive through the highs and lows of being a first time entrepreneur.  Not to mention a disproportionate doer of dishes, laundry, and cooking over the last 12 months. ❤️

Onward to Year 2…

So grateful for what the last year has brought, and for all of the awesome people that have been a part of this experience.

Can’t wait to embark on the journey of Year 2.

Let’s go!

If you want to talk about how we can help you take things to the next level in 2019… let’s chat.

Andrea is a 12X certified Salesforce MVP and the founder of Sercante. When she's not Pardot-ing, she can be found playing with her German Shepherd Murphy, making homemade gin, or traveling with her hubby Buck.

  1. Congratulations Andrea, what a great first year! I’m also celebrating – it’s been a year since I left full time employment to work for myself as a Marketing & Pardot consultant. It’s been brilliant, the best decision I made.
